Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Last updated: June 2026
The Kairawan Project does not sell personal information. We have never sold user data, and we do not plan to. This page exists because some jurisdictions (notably the California Consumer Privacy Act, CCPA) require us to provide a "Do Not Sell" notice even when the answer is no.
1. We Do Not Sell Data
Kairawan is a non-commercial scholarly initiative. We have:
- No advertising business model.
- No data-broker relationships.
- No marketing partners that receive user information.
- No targeted advertising on the site.
Information we collect (search queries with country-level geographic context, account information for contributors, transcription attributions) is used solely to operate the search engine and the scholarly publishing workflow. It is not packaged, anonymised-and-sold, or shared for commercial purposes.
2. Third-Party Service Providers
We use a small number of operational service providers (DigitalOcean for hosting, Google Cloud's Gemini API for OCR, Postmark for transactional email, Hostinger for DNS and mail receipt). These vendors process data on our behalf under contracts that prohibit them from re-selling or repurposing it. They are processors, not buyers.
See our Privacy Policy for the full list and links to each vendor's privacy terms.
3. Your Rights Under CCPA and Equivalent Laws
You have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you.
- Request deletion of that information.
- Opt out of sales (already in effect by default — we do not sell).
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Equivalent rights under GDPR (EU), Loi 78-17 (France), and other regional data-protection laws are described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Contact
